Elza Thomas, one of the pioneers of Putnam County died at his home in Morton Sunday morning at 10 o’clock.  He was 83 of age. He had lived in the same neighborhood for 50 years.  Mr. Thomas was the father of 11 children, all of whom are married and all were present at the time of his death.  He was a man of great wealth, being probably the wealthiest man in the county owning 1800 acres of fine land, besides other valuable property. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon the place of interment being at Union Chapel.  S/o Joel Thomas and Margaret (Kennedy) Thomas. – kbz
